History
Flanagan Flats was built in 1927 as a 16-unit English Tudor apartment building. Almost a century later, it still retains the original 16 one-bedroom, one-bathroom units. The original name was Woodmere Arms Apartments. New owners changed the name to Tipperary Court in 1994. Fifteen years later, in 2009, McIntyre Properties, LLC purchased the property and renamed it
Flanagan Flats.
Interestingly, a 1940 property appraisal reveals that the apartments rented for $36 a month from 1931 to 1934. By 1940, the rent had increased to $45 a month.
Although the original character and charm remain, like hardwood floors and glass doorknobs--there have been many improvements over the past 83 years. Each unit now has the modern conveniences of central heat & air, dishwashers, and washer and dryer hook-ups. Unique characteristics of this historical property are the large closets and abundance of storage.
